Official USARS Sanctioned Event Information

The Tom Osborne Invitational is sanctioned by USA Roller Sports (USARS). Because this is a USARS-sanctioned event, all domestic U.S. athletes must meet USARS membership requirements before participating.

Domestic U.S. athletes must appear as “In Good Standing” with USARS before competing.

Adult athletes age 18+ should complete USARS registration, SafeSport training, and any required background screening as early as possible. SafeSport training and background screening are handled through Sport80.

All Domestic U.S. Athletes

Domestic U.S. athletes must appear as “In Good Standing” with USARS before competing.

  • Choose either the Full Competition Membership or the Single Event Membership.
  • Pay any membership fees.
  • Confirm you appear as “In Good Standing” with USARS before competing.
  • Skate City rink hockey athletes should select: SKATE CITY SPORTS RINK HOCKEY C0015H (CO - C0015H).
  • Check in at the front counter before participating.

Adult (18+) U.S. Athletes

Adult U.S. athletes age 18 or older must complete SafeSport training and any required NCSI background screening in addition to their USARS membership.

  • Make sure all USARS membership and adult compliance requirements are complete before event day.

Who needs a USARS membership?

All domestic U.S. athletes participating in the Tom Osborne Invitational must have a valid USARS membership before competing.

This requirement does not apply to competitors from outside the United States.

What USARS membership do I need?

The Tom Osborne Invitational is sanctioned by USA Roller Sports. Domestic U.S. athletes must have one of the following memberships before competing.

Full Competition Membership — $95
Valid for any USARS sanctioned event during the competition year.

Single Event Membership — $25
Valid for one USARS sanctioned, non-qualifying event.
To be in good standing
Complete the online USARS member application.
Pay the membership fee in full.
Not be suspended by USA Roller Sports, SafeSport, or the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
Adult U.S. athletes age 18+ must complete the NCSI background check and SafeSport training.
Skate City team athletes
When registering, select SKATE CITY SPORTS CLUB - RINK HOCKEY so Skate City Sports administrators can verify your membership.

Domestic U.S. athletes need one of the following memberships:

Full Competition Membership — $95
For athletes who plan to compete in USARS-sanctioned events throughout the competition year.

Single Event Membership — $25
For athletes competing in this one USARS-sanctioned, non-qualifying event.

For many Tom Osborne Invitational athletes, the Single Event Membership may be the best fit.

What club should Skate City athletes select?

Athletes playing on Skate City rink hockey teams should select:

SKATE CITY SPORTS CLUB - RINK HOCKEY

This helps Skate City Sports administrators verify athlete membership status before the event.

What does “In Good Standing” mean?

To compete, athletes must appear as “In Good Standing” with USARS.

This means all required items are complete, including:

  • Online USARS member application
  • Membership payment received in full
  • No current suspension through USA Roller Sports, the U.S. Center for SafeSport, or the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency
  • For adult U.S. athletes age 18+: current SafeSport training and any required NCSI background screening

Having a USARS membership does not always mean an adult athlete is fully cleared to participate. Adult athletes must make sure all required compliance items are complete and current.

What do adult athletes age 18+ need to complete?

Adult U.S. athletes age 18 or older may need to complete:

  • USARS registration
  • SafeSport training
  • Any required background screening through NCSI

SafeSport training and background screening are handled through Sport80 and may take time to process. Please complete these requirements as early as possible.

Do not wait until event day. Some requirements may take time to process.

Where is athlete check-in?

Athlete check-in will take place at the front counter inside the arena.

All athletes must check in before competing.

Only athletes who appear as In Good Standing with USARS will be permitted to participate.

What happens if I am not listed as In Good Standing?

Athletes who do not appear as In Good Standing with USARS may need to complete missing requirements before being allowed to compete.

Skate City Sports will review athlete membership status before the event.

What links do I need?
Will Skate City Sports reimburse the membership cost?

Yes. Skate City Sports will reimburse eligible athletes for the $25 USARS Single Event Membership at the Tom Osborne Invitational.

Reimbursement applies only to athletes who:

  • Purchased the $25 Single Event Membership
  • Are domestic U.S. athletes
  • Are listed as In Good Standing with USARS
  • Are participating in the Tom Osborne Invitational
  • Are Skate City Sports members

Reimbursement does not apply to the $95 Full Competition Membership.
